Set the idle interval
Open the Auto-enable settings and turn on automatic enabling after inactivity. Choose an interval from 1 to 999,999 minutes. A Windows screensaver does not need to be enabled.
This arms your chosen rules. It is not an immediate Windows lock at the end of the timer. To request a lock on subsequent input, set the keyboard or mouse triggers to Lock Windows.
Pause for fullscreen or presentation activity
The optional fullscreen/presentation setting avoids enabling while Windows reports supported fullscreen or presentation activity. Behavior depends on how the application presents itself to Windows; test the software you use.
Pause when an app requires the display to stay on
Applications can request that Windows keep the display awake. Examples include a video player during playback, presentation software during a slideshow, or a video-conferencing application during a call or screen share. This option pauses automatic enabling when the supported display-required signal is detected. Not every application makes the same request.
Enable when a screensaver starts
You can also enable monitoring when Windows starts a screensaver. This is its own optional trigger, independent of the inactivity timer. Automatic enabling is immediate; the cancellable five-second countdown is for manual enabling.
Keep native Windows locking in view
For ordinary unattended locking, Windows already offers screen-saver sign-in and other account-protection options. DeskLatch adds configurable event responses and a separate locked-state profile. It does not replace Windows authentication or force every media app to report activity consistently.
